Frequently Asked Questions

This guide is mainly for people who have not rented a vacation home from private owners before and are curious how things work.

Q: How do I check in and check out?

A: With your reservation papers you will be given a code number. This code number will let you unlock the key safe at the front door. Just enter and make yourself a home. At check out just lock the door and place the key back in the safe.

Q: What times can I check in or out?

A: Check in is 4pm or later and check out is 10am or earlier. If you require extended times please contact us. Early check in or late check out is only available if there is nobody arriving/departing on the same day.

Q: What if there is a problem?

A: We have a local management company taken care of everything. Should there be any unforeseen circumstances you can contact them 24/7. You will be given their number with your confirmation papers.

Q: Do I have to clean before I leave?

A: The villa will be properly cleaned after your departure. However, please do not leave the villa in an unreasonable condition e.g. start the dishwasher before you leave.

Q: In your price quotes / booking information you talk about a security deposit and a deposit to hold the reservation. Can you explain what these deposits are?

A: We usually charge you a deposit to hold the reservation. This deposit is due at the time of booking. It is part of your rental price, so for example if you are renting one week at $650 and you give us $150 to hold the reservation, this will reduce your final payment (usually due 1 month before arrival) to $500. Should you change your mind and cancel your reservation we *may* keep some or all of this deposit. It depends on how long in advance you cancel and the circumstances.

The security deposit however is collected for the unlikely event that you damage anything in the property. If there is no damage this deposit will be fully refund to you after your departure. If you pay us directly with your credit card this deposit may be waived, because we are getting your authorization to charge your credit card in the event of damage.

Q: So what will you charge me if I accidentally break a glass or a plate?

A: Don’t worry. We only use the security deposit / credit card authorization to waive this deposit in rare cases. If you break a glass or plate there will likely be no charge to you. Accidents happen.

Q: How do I pay you?

A: We can accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. If you do not wish to use a card, you can pay by check or money order. Personal checks are accepted as long as there is enough time for the check to clear before your arrival.

Q: Is there an additional fee to pay by credit card?

A: Unlike many other owners of vacation properties, we do not pass on our credit card processing fees to you.

Q: Florida has seen 4 hurricanes in 2004. We all hope this never happens again, but if it does what happens when I have booked your villa in that time?

A: Should you be unable to arrive at our villa, due to an approaching hurricane, a hurricane has just hit or the property was damaged in a prior hurricane, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid to us. We can however not be responsible for any additional costs that may occur due to, but not limited to, flight cancellations, car rental cancellation or any other costs.

If you have already arrived at our property and you are urged to evacuate the area due to an approaching hurricane, you will receive a pro-rated refund. Again, we can not be responsible for any additional costs that may occur.
